Building History
Clay House was erected c.a. 1792, built as a bank by Joseph Clay, a local malster and businessman. Constructed on the site of the public house the 'Lamb & Flag', today the original cellars and brick spiral staircase are still in existence.
Substantial refurbishment work was undertaken during early 1996 which included the re-integration of the Georgian frontage. Internally, the fine 19th century features of the building have been carefully restored and preserved, whilst bringing the facilities up to a high standard for modern office use.
